A Miracle Moments Story: A Stressful Room Renovation

Decluttering, rearranging and removing old furniture for new ones can sometimes be a huge undertaking. However, sometimes a room desperately needs new energy and therefore the old things must go. A few years ago, I was in this predicament. My room had very old furniture, that came with very old memories. It begged for fresh new energy (aka – Feng Shui). But the thought of making the changes alone, gave me a headache. So, I kept putting it off, ignoring this fact that the old things had to go.

Now It doesn’t take much for me to feel overwhelmed. So, knowing this, I often procrastinate, or avoid stressful situations all together. I dreaded the unpredictable changes I needed to make in this room. Changes that would likely require enforceable work. Work that could potentially cause heavy stress, often besties with overwhelming anxiety. I tried my best to ignore the necessary changes. However, I kept having a nudging reminder, that this was something I needed to do. I just really didn’t want to deal with it.

I remember sitting on my couch one evening. I looked into my room and finally surrendered. I needed to start the process, no more delays. Once decided to begin, the feeling of dread returned. How can I make all these changes and move all this furniture by myself? I thought. I heard my inner spirit say, “you won’t do it alone, I will help you.” Ok then, deal, I thought, while wondering how this would happen. Then I will start now, finally ready to begin.

My next thought was, what should I do first?. Instantly getting a response. My immediate thought was to just take pictures of my mattress and put it up on Facebook’s marketplace. It was a simple step. I walked into my room, stripped the bed, took pictures of the mattress and then took a nap.

Later in the evening I remembered that I still needed to post the mattress on Facebook’s marketplace, so I did. I often use Facebook’s marketplace when I need to get rid of something fast. Like same day fast. However, this time it took a little bit longer.

A few days later, while lunching with a friend, I remember I wanted to buy a large floor mirror. She had a truck. I needed a big car to transport it. At the time I was driving a sexy Lexus RC. Great for flash, but bad for fitting anything else in it other than myself.

That day her husband was driving the truck. Once I mentioned the mirror, she insisted on helping. She called him right away & he met us at the store. He walked in the store with us. He picked up the massive mirror I wanted. He then proceeded to not just transport the enormous mirror into my house, but into my bedroom. Placing it exactly where I wanted to display it. I didn’t have to lift a pinky!

A few days later I got a Facebook notification that a young lady wanted to purchase my mattress. She however couldn’t pick it up for a few days. Being that she was my only buyer, I’d have to accept her timing. I had purchased the prettiest bed frame from Amazon, which was in transit. It was expected to arrive a couple before my old mattress would be removed. It didn’t.

Instead, I received a notification that my bed frame was “lost in transit.” Stressful right! Oddly enough I wasn’t worried. I just had a gut feeling. This frame was not meant to arrive until the old mattress was completely removed from my apartment. That gut feeling was right.

A day or two later, the young lady came in the morning for the mattress. That same day, in the evening (once the bed was gone) the pretty bed frame arrived. I placed it on the side & planned to assemble it later (in a couple days or so). I really enjoy assembling things, it gives me Zen, as it’s like working on a puzzle. So, I planned on doing this part alone, savoring every moment of the assembly. However, this too would come with assistance.

A couple days later, I received a random call from another friend asking if she could come over to help me assemble my beframe. I hesitantly said yes, as I still desired to do it alone, but accepted her offer anyway. Once I opened the boxes, I realized this frame was physically impossible to assemble alone. One person had to hold up one end, while the other person screwed the other side together. Once I realized this. I was very grateful for her random call of assistance.

I organized my room and placed the bed old frame to the side, to later give to my dad. He planned on using that old frame in one of his spare bedrooms.

The following day, I ordered a new mattress, oh yes, also was from Amazon. This mattress was scheduled to be delivered in 2-weeks, a fact that almost stopped me from purchasing it. I purchased it anyway.

Two days later I received a call from my dad. He wanted to drive up to Tampa from WPB (a 4-hour journey), to pick up the old bedframe. I welcomed his visit of course.

Four hours later, I received a knock on the door. I expected it to be my dad, it wasn’t. Instead, it was the mattress (in a box). The same mattress I purchased 2 days ago, that wasn’t supposed to arrive for another 2 weeks. 10 minutes later my dad had arrived. I was completely shocked.

Holding gift with a Pink Bow

This was God’s bow, his gifts always come with a bow. This was the aha moment, containing his beautiful signature. A miraculous moment reminding me of his promise. His promise to help me. He coordinated & composed it all. The mattress showed up, right in time for my dad to help me with it. I watched him open the box, and put the flattened-by-plastic mattress, on the bedframe. As he cut away the plastic, I looked on, realizing that again I did not have to lift pinky. I felt so special & was filled with so much gratitude.

Although God was not physically there, He used the presence of others around me. He even changed expected delivery dates. Therefore, my small home was never crowded with furniture. I didn’t have to do any heavy lifting, & I didn’t have to beg for help. Crazy enough, they all asked me!. I had help, every step of the way. God honored his promise. He told me he would help, and he did. All while keeping me in perfect peace throughout the entire process.

The Israelites walking towards a guiding pillar of fire & smoke

There are so many stories in the bible where God helps in moments weakness (Exodus 14:14). The whole chapter of Exodus is full of these stories. One being when God’s presence was in a cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night. To guide the Israelites, in the wilderness (Exodus 13:21).

We may feel shamed by our inadequacies, but God loves them! He created us just the way we are… perfectly flawed. Whether we are weak, impatient, anxious, depressed, indecisive, naive, gullible, selfish, forgetful, moody, short-tempered, or notoriously wrong. He uses our weaknesses to do his best work. He used Moses, a man with a speech impediment to speak to a stubborn & tyrannical King. In these moments, he shows up to be the extension of our lackings. He knows what we are capable of and will handle the rest. His power made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Girl under the hand of God

We should never feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask for his help. Even in the little things (e.g. where to get the best ice cream?..). He desires to be acknowledged in all our ways (Proverbs 3:6). He loves being our superman, helping us, and making things happen precisely at the right time (#Isaiah 60:22).

He is with you, He will help you & He will strengthen you (Isaiah 41:10). Every step of the way, you need only ask.

Man following God's golden Steps. Step by step

Be warned. Obedience is key in receiving His help & guidance ..We might ask for help and be given clear instructions on what steps to take. Steps we may not understand or even disagree with. Hold your breath, push through & Be Obedient. God moves through faith and obedience. If we don’t follow simple instructions because it goes against our very nature or takes us out of our comfort zone… it may halt his movement. Overtime we may then become stagnant. Later, dealing with a situation that has become significantly worse.

Stagnation may sometimes feel like it’s his complete abandonment. He will never leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6), but in this case, He is rather waiting on you… to obey.
