11 Wonderful Highly Recommended Broadway Experiences
Nothing beats having evening plans that included going to a Broadway – (except maybe a booked flight). Getting dolled up, and later walking into a beautiful theater. It’s such a romantical vibe… However, nothing is more frustrating & irritating than setting the scene for a lovely night. Only to unknowingly, having to endure a long and terrible show. To help you avoid this, here are 11 wonderful & highly recommended Broadway theater shows, that I would strongly encourage you to see.
To avoid this catastrophe, I have constructed a little list of shows I would strongly encourage you to see.

Les Misérables
This show is a must see for anyone embarking on the culture of theater. It’s an absolute classic. Now it can be a little sad, but the meaning is so deep and just beautiful. I must admit, it has a little bit of a slow start. I’d say it starts to pick up right when the lead character becomes the mayor. All the songs are just so beautiful!! They will eventually give you a feeling of nostalgia (if you see the show multiple times- as I have). I always get teary eyed when the song “Empty Chairs and Empty Tables” starts. It’s such a good song!!
Potential Spoiler: It’s the story of a man upholding a vow to listen to his conscience. Doing good and ultimately honoring his relationship with God. No matter the cost.
Phantom of the Opera

I am so sad this show removed from its New York city home theater. I just loved how the venue was beautifully designed. It was like an old classic opera house. It was absolutely stunning to experience. Fortunately, the show still tours so you can catch when they tour in your town. The edgy & almost devious yet suspenseful theme song will certainly get your heart pumping. You will never forget the passionate & operatic songs. It truly is a hauntingly captivating masterpiece.
Potential Spoiler – It is a story about a mysterious man who fall in loves with a woman he doesn’t know. Only to quickly sabotage everything, when revealing who he truly was behind his mask….
Moulin Rouge

This show was surprisingly & deliciously good. It will keep your interest from the moment it starts till the moment it ends. Another cool feature is that you will know and want to sing along with every song. Even if you’ve never seen the show before. Side note, but a much-needed mention… The Duke is absolutely gorgeous!! (Bring your binoculars.) Get ready to be enraptured. This show is so good!
Moulin Rouge surely deserves a spot on the list of 10 highly recommended Broadway shows.
Potential Spoiler: It’s a story about a cabaret singer who will do almost anything to save her theater and her reputation- except maybe surrender her heart.

The Lion King
This show is not only good for kids, but also really enjoyable for adults too. The dances and the songs are so unique and full of culture. It will literally give you goose bumps with the soul touching melodies. The colors are so vibrant, and the dancing is truly impressive. Definitely a must see.
Potential Spoiler: I mean who hasn’t seen the Lion King?!?! If you haven’t, I recommend childhood therapy, immediately! Go watch it on Disney, this instant!!!

Hamilton
If you like a good beat, then you will like this Broadway. This show brings old school rapping, good singing, cool dancing, and awe-inspiring history all into one compelling show. You will walk away wanting to listen to the unique soundtrack in your car. Or even in the morning on your way to work, to get pumped. It’s a motivational historical masterpiece.
Potential Spoiler: About the insanely determined Alexander Hamilton. A man with superhuman ambition, motivation & work diligence. Paired with his life’s mission, to Improve a Nation. First, by starting with the reconstruction of the US constitution.
The King and I

I love this show. It is a show set in Bangkok 1860, that is actually based on a true story. Cool right?!? The show is surprisingly good. There is also a movie version, but I strongly recommend the show. It not only incorporates American theater, but there is also an old Asian theater style. Talk about culture overload! Just when you think that’s all it’s giving, it gives even more!!!

Potential Spoiler: It’s about a British Tutor and a The King of Bangkok, both deciding to work together. First in resistant & preconceived biases, then later in harmonious understanding and respect. Once moving past their egos & prejudices & instead, focusing on the others’ true intentions and the genuine soul that’s within.
Aladdin

If only I had three wishes right now (hmm..I digress). The show is almost sensory overload, but in a good way. The vibrant colors from the costumes and stage will keep you in state of awe. You will definitely enjoy the familiar songs and may want to annoyingly sing along. It is perfect for a date night, out with friends, or with family.
Potential Spoiler : A young and spirited man finds the one thing that can make all his dreams come true. Well.. Almost.
Willy Wonka -And the Chocolate Factory

Chocolate, chocolate, and more Chocolate!! What more do you need?!? Such a fun show!! The kids are crazy talented and full of so much spunk & charisma. I enjoyed listening to them sing their little hearts out. In their final show in St Pete, Florida, we were able to experience all three leads playing the part of the main character, but in different scenes….
Spoiler Alert: A Story of a young, impoverished boy who gets one shot in life. A chance to make chocolate and live happily ever after…
Sweeney Todd
Now this is such a deliciously tragic show. It has the ultimate unforgettable plot. Full of twists and turns that it’s impossible to guess the ending. It is just so yummy ;-). The songs are lovely. The costumes & staging will make you want to take a time machine. Just to walk the lonely streets of London town.

Potential Spoiler: Oh Mr. Todd… An unfortunate man who will stop at nothing to get revenge. Even destroy almost everything he holds dear.

Chicago
Vengeful women without a conscience. Such a juicy combination. This show is such a vibe. It is not only funny but also has a sexy & sensual vibe. It is a show you can see multiple times and still not get tired of. It may also motivate you to go to the gym, these performers are so fit!!.
Potential Spoiler: A story of two women attempting to use all their cunning streets smarts, to get famous & themselves out of a little sticky situation… Jail.
Aida

If you love Egyptian history, you will love this show. Although this show is more of an Opera. It is still worth checking out. Music is lovely and the Egyptian art is nostalgic. Also, It will be playing at the Metropolitan Museum in NY. Check out link if interested – Aida
Potential spoiler: A tragic love story of an Ethiopian Princess, who falls in love with an Egyptian. A Nation that has kidnapped & enslaved her.
